I am an Associate Professor of English & Communication at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.
I completed my PhD in English at Ohio State University, graduating in May 2015. I earned tenure at UMass Dartmouth in Spring 2021. Currently, I teach in the Communication and Creative and Professional Writing BA programs and the Master’s in Professional Writing and Communication programs in the Department of English & Communication. I also serve as Graduate Program Director. My areas of interest include locating the intersections among classical and contemporary rhetorical theories, writing studies, and digital media composing.
My research explores a range of topics–from program administration to pedagogical issues to fandom studies. Across all of these areas, I am interested in how to best serve students as they develop their literacies across modalities and enter into the personal and professional communities and spaces that matter to them and where they hope to affect change.
